Bathroom Remodel!

It’s been a while since I posted anything for the house.

Remember our guest bathroom?

It’s finally finished!

We still want to move the light over above the mirror but that can happen down the road.

Mobile, Table and nursery update

I made a mobile, but ended up hanging it up as decoration instead of above her crib. We got a white noise machine that projects pictures on the ceiling so she doesn’t really need a mobile.

I also painted a table we got from my mom.

I painted the legs pink…

And the rest white:

I’m happy with how it turned out!

Leon helped me hang the book shelves too and I LOVE how they turned out.

Image

I’m having my dad make a wall decal to go above the books, I just haven’t decided on the saying yet.

Here is an updated view of the nursery…

ImageImageImageImageImage

Still working on a few decorative items. I haven’t decided what to do over the crib and changing table.

I’m working on a few wall decals. 🙂

I made another nursing cover for myself because I wasn’t in love with the one I made a few months ago. I attached the straps too far from the boning and it kinda fell over, revealing more than intended. I’ll still use it but I wanted to make another one.

It went much faster this time, since I have this whole sewing thing down to a science. I cut the large rectangle and the two straps as seen below. I used the tutorial from Pretty Prudent.

Image

I sewed the straps and the outside of the rectangle. Then I put the boning in and attached the straps. It turned out great!

Image

I also made another boppy cover. I got a boppy cover as a gift and I love it. But I decided I wanted a second one, just in case this one gets dirty/spit up on. That way I can always have one in the wash and one on the pillow (if needed).

As you all know, I’ve sewed everything in the nursery so I didn’t think much of sewing this. Turns out it was the hardest thing I’ve made! The tricky part was the hidden zipper. I did it wrong, but now I know for next time!

I used the boppy pillow I received as a stencil to cut out the fabric.

Image

I put the two pretty sides towards each other and measured out where the zipper should go.

Image

I sewed the zipper in, and here is where I messed up. I should have sewed the zipper through both the seam and the outside of the boppy cover, but I only sewed it into the seam.

Image

You can see the zipper here but its not really “hidden.”

Finished product is a little big but it works!

36 Weeks!

This week I’ve been doing a lot of little things around the house. I organized Harper’s nursery, put away everything we got from the shower and went out and bought everything we still needed. I finished hanging all of her clothes, did a few loads of laundry and packed both diaper bags. I cleaned the house, organized the pantry, went to the library, and got my car washed. Tomorrow I go to the Fire Department to have them show me how to properly install Harper’s car seat. L and I met a pediatrician (Gilbert Pediatrics) last week and I meet 2 more this week (Mesa pediatrics and Banner Pediatrics – Dr Amin). I’m hoping to find a pediatrician in the next week. Jenna and I went to Joanns to get fabric for our baby carriers – we are aiming for a wrap style mei tai. I’m new to the whole baby wearing scene, and though I don’t plan to do it all the time, I think it sounds convenient for certain times. 🙂 I also got a moby wrap as a shower gift that I’m STOKED about. I’ll post pics of the mei tai when it’s done. I also started painting the table for Harper’s room and am working on the decorations for her room. L and I bought spice racks from IKEA and painted them to use as book shelves. I am hoping to hang those tomorrow! I’ll post pics when I have some finished products! Hoping to finish up some last minute projects and start relaxing!!

Maternity clothes? Definitely. In fact, some of my maternity clothes are even too small!

Sleep? What’s that?

Stretch marks? Same as last week!

Best moment this week: Last day of work and Date night with L! We went to dinner and a movie! Maternity photos!

Miss Anything? Coffee. Bladder control. Sleeping on my stomach.

Movement: She is still very active.

Food Cravings: cinnamon sugar anything. chocolate.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Raw meat still bugs me.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Swelling, Carpal Tunnel, some cramping, my muscles are very sore, especially my groin muscles! Oh and still of course the unpleasant ones I’d rather not talk about! The carpal tunnel is STILL getting worse every day. Thankfully I’m no longer working so I’m trying to rest my hands as much as possible.

Labor Signs: I had some Braxton Hicks contractions this weekend. Also been cramping, and peeing all the time. Had an exam today – I’m not dilated at all yet.

Wedding rings on or off? Off –way too swollen! Watch and bracelets are off now too.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Excited!

Changing Table is Done!!

I’ve been slowly posting progression shots of the changing table project. In case you haven’t been following along, I bought this used for $40. The plan was to refinish it to match the dresser and rocking chair.

It was this hideous red color:

Image

Image

Leon sanded it all down (which was QUITE the project).

Image

He ended up taking it all apart to make sanding and staining even easier. After he sanded it, I stained it and added a few coats of poly.

Here he is, putting it back together again. We were missing one of the cam locks and had to order replacements from Amazon.

Image

And here it is, in the nursery!

Image

I LOVE it! I got pulls to match the dresser so it all looks like a cohesive set!

I had to do some re-arranging in the nursery and I’m disappointed to report that the rocking chair wont fit in the nursery.

It’s been pulled into the family room for now.

I hemmed the curtains, so they are not up in this pic, but here is the dresser:

Image

Still some things to do for decorations but it’s coming along!!

Clothing dividers, hospital bag and carseat canopy!

I showed you the start of the clothing dividers in this post. I had my dad make me the numbers to put on them. If you’re looking for something similar, check out his website here. Tell him Sarah sent you!

Here are the round things I got from ebay:

Image

This is what they looked like after I modpodged on the paper.

Image

And this is what they looked like after I added the numbers! I love how they turned out! 🙂

Image

You could probably put another layer of mod podge on them if you felt ambitious but it’s not really needed.

I also packed the hospital bag, and both diaper bags. They are sitting at the front door, waiting to be grabbed!

Image

Look at the adorable boppy pillow!! I LOVE it! I’m going to make an extra cover for it, just so I have a backup if/when this gets spit up on!

Speaking of diaper bags … I chose this skiphop bag you see in the pic above. My cousin Amy got it for me, and she actually helped me pick it out too. I LOVE it. It’s perfect- it’s cute, convenient, has lots of pockets…. I’m stoked to use it. I have been looking for a diaper bag for Leon too, but he said he just wanted a back pack so I kinda gave up on the search and just figured we’d get a plain old back pack for him. Well… my adorable husband found his own diaper bag on Amazon! It’s PERFECT for him.

Image

It even has a really nice changing pad and lots of pockets!

Image

The other project I did this last week was to make my own carseat canopy.

I wanted one like this from etsy:

Seller = SWAGbooties

The one above is $42 and the problem with most of them, is that the part that hooks onto the handle is close together. You can see what I mean in this pic:

Baby Infant Carseat Car seat canopy cover blanket nursing soft pink purple paisley elephant fleece aqua turquoise SWAG

The reason that is a problem, is that I have a nifty carseat pad for my arm. You’ll see what I mean in later pics but it’s one of these:

Since this is pretty wide, I would need the carseat canopy to connect to the carseat handle spread out.

So… Instead of spending $42 on something I can make myself…. I pulled out my sewing machine.

This project was super fast and easy – I literally started and finished it in one night. I didn’t take any in progress pictures because I suck.

(See the padded handle?)

What do you think?

I also found these at buy buy baby for $29.99! I spent nothing on mine because I used fabric left over from my nursery projects, and had the Velcro for the straps left over from another project.

Image

Oh, which reminds me, I also found those nursing covers I made (I’ll be making another one soon) at buy buy baby for $34.99:

Not too bad, huh!?

🙂
